Wellness programs are good for business. They can lead to better performing workers, lower absenteeism and decreased healthcare and insurance costs.
Now, small businesses can be rewarded for these efforts! The Massachusetts Wellness Tax Credit Incentive gives small businesses in Massachusetts a state tax credit for having a qualified employee wellness initiative. This is an excellent opportunity for employers to help their employees’ live healthier lifestyles and decrease healthcare costs.
Massachusetts businesses that employ 200 or fewer workers may qualify for a tax credit for up to 25% of the cost of implementing a certified wellness program, for a maximum of $10,000 in credit.
To receive certification, a business must check to see that their business and wellness program qualifies and submit an online application by December 31, 2016.
